Compass: a great recipe for training?

Compass Group UK &Ireland is proud to sponsor The Ladder for The Black Country Apprenticeship Awards 2024.
Jonathan Foot, the head of apprenticeships and early careers for Compass Group UK & Ireland, explained that the group operates in more than 5,000 locations right across the UK and Ireland – providing expert catering, cleaning and facilities management services to a range of clients and sectors.
In the UK and Ireland Compass employs tens of thousands of talented people providing tasty, well-cooked food and support services to improve the health and well-being of workers, school children, hospital patients, the military, and visitors to the nation’s major sports and cultural events.
Mr Foot said: “Earlier this year, we launched Xcelerate with Edgbaston. This is a state-of-the-art facility, providing front of house, back of house, facilities management and IT digital solutions training for budding chefs and hospitality professionals of the future.
“This regional community skills and learning hub is equipped with cutting-edge technology allowing people to train with the latest innovations to provide customers and clients with great food and great service.
“We want to take a lead in training up the chefs, event managers, receptionists, baristas and facilities managers of the future and showcase the hospitality sector as a great place to work,” explained Mr Foot.
The Xcelerate project is a joint initiative with Edgbaston, Levy UK+I and Compass.
It aligns with mutual goals to empower local communities, notably be reinforcing Compass’s ‘Mission to a Million’, a campaign aiming to impact one million lives by 2030.“These awards bring to life our commitment to supporting careers and the local community and we are delighted to be involved,” added Mr Foot.
